Now You See It

Recreating Early Photographic Experiments with the Natural World

Now You See It takes inspiration from early photographic experiments by Fox Talbot. These experiments involved placing natural materials, like a tree branch, between the sun and a light sensitive material, leaving a lasting image on the material.

Audiences are invited to place a ‘petri’ style dish containing natural cuttings, on the UV light sensitive surface, and expose it to UV light. Once exposed the dish can be removed leaving the shapes on the surface. After a minute the exposed image fades away and the process can be repeated ad infinitum.
